
SHREVEPORT, La. - The Wabash Valley College baseball Warriors went 2-2 in their opening games of the Bossier Parish Tournament this weekend.
The Warriors split game with both Bossier Parish Community College and Navarro College of Corsicana, Texas.
Friday, WVC defeated Bossier Parish, 12-6, but lost to Navarro, 11-4. Saturday, WVC dropped a 13-12 decision to Bossier Parish but defeated Navarro, 7-5.
Ryan Rodgers started in WVC's win over Bossier Parish. He went 6.0 innings and gave up four runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks with four strike outs. Nathan Humphrey pitched 3.0 innings and gave up two runs, both earned, on three hits with two strike outs.
Ryan Santos, Jovan Gonzalez, Michael Mosby and Keith Haaff each had two hits for the Warriors. Mosby had three RBIs, Gonzalez two and Haaff one. Daniel Nichols had a two-run homer.
Blake Drake started in the loss to Navarro. He went 5.0 innings and gave up five runs, all earned, on six hits ad a walk with four strike outs. Tory Doerr pitched one-third of an inning and gave up three runs, all earned, on four hits with a walk. He had one strike out. Dan Bollenbacher went 1.2 innings and gave up a run, earned, on one hit and a walk with three strike outs. Dean Stuckey gave up two runs, both earned, on three hits and a walk.
Nichols and Casey Dishman both had two hits; Nichols hit his fifth homer of the season. Nichols, Jacob Rhodes and Don Spadafora each had an RBI.
J.T. Stenftenagel started in the loss to Bossier Parish. He went one-third of an inning and gave up 10 runs, eight earned, on nine hits and a walk. Humphrey pitched 5.2 innings and gave up two runs, both earned, on eight hits with four strike outs. Doerr pitched 2.0 innings and gave up a run, earned, on four hits with a strike out.
Gonzalez had four hits and Mosby three to lead WVC's attack. Spadafora and Haaff both had two. Spadafora had three RBIs with Mosby and Haaff both getting two. Dishman had a two-run homer.
Julio Morales started in the win over Navarro. He went 7.1 innings and gave up five runs, all earned, on five hits and three walks with six strike outs. Keith Butler pitched 1.2 innings and gave up one hit with four strike outs.
Dishman, Gonzalez, Mosby and Nichols each had two hits for WVC. Dishman and Nichols each had an RBI. Raul Vega had a solo homer for the Warriors.
