PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Wabash Valley College Lady Warriors softball team picked up two wins Sunday as they opened their spring trip.

The wins, 16-2 and 22-3 over Carl Sandburg of Galesburg, improved WVC to 3-0 on the season. Both games went five innings.

Kristen Broadway started the first game for WVC and went 3.0 innings. She struck out four. Jordan Vertz pitched 2.0 innings and gave up two runs on three hits with a strike out. LeAnn Collins, Jacky Porter, Brooke McCartney and Emerald Graham were all two for three while Emily Priar was two for five. Taylor Wilson was one for two. Collins had two RBIs and Porter one.

WVC blew the game open with a 14-run third inning.

Kayla Meny started the second game and went 3.0 innings. She gave up one run, unearned, on three hits with three strike outs. Katrina Carter pitched 2.0 innings and gave up two unearned runs on two hits.

Graham was four for five with six RBIs while McCartney was three for five with an RBI. Collins was two for three with a two-run homer in WVC's seven-run third. Wilson, Priar and Natasha Vanover were all two for three. Vanover also had two RBIs.
