Jared Maners broke a 2-2 tie with an inside bucket and the Warriors were off and running. The Pioneers did close it to 10-8, but the Warriors went on an 8-0 run and led 18-8. With 10 minutes gone in the opening half, WVC led 29-19. With five minutes to go, the WVC lead was 45-24, and with two minutes left it was 52-24.
When the game was over, it was WVC 107, Volunteer State, 68.
Maners and Cornelius Chatt each had 10 first-half points to lead Wabash Valley. But it was Chatt's eight of nine performance of the line that was impressive. The team dropped in 15 of 18 free throws in the first 20 minutes, 83.3 percent. For the game, WVC went 17 of 23, 73.9 percent.
The Warriors were 19 of 40 overall from the field in the first half, 47.5 percent. The defense held Volunteer State to 10 of 39 from the floor, 25.6 percent.
WVC hit two of nine three-pointers in the opening half, 22.2 percent, while Volunteer State was three of 11, 27.3 percent.
Kenneth Stripling led Volunteer State with nine first-half points.
Wabash Valley kept it up in the second half, and led by 40 points, 89-49, on Cornelius Walker's layup.
The Warriors shooting improved a bit in the second half as they dropped in 22 of 42 from the floor, 52.4 percent. For the game, WVC was 41 of 82, an even 50 percent.
From three-point range, WVC was six of 14 in the second half, 42.9 percent; for the game they were eight of 23 for 34.8 percent.
Volunteer State hit 14 of 40 from the floor in the second 20 minutes, 35 percent. The Pioneers were 24 of 79 for the game, 30.4 percent.
From three-point range they were three of 18 in the second half, 16.7 percent, and six of 29 for the game, 20.7 percent.

Wabash Valley pulled down 50 rebounds to Volunteer States, 39. Andre Miller had 11 caroms for the Warriors with Chris Duncan grabbing six and Zach Odum five. Davis Warner had five for Volunteer State with Astral Guerrier picking off seven.
WVC forced Volunteer State into 24 turnovers and had 18 steals. WVC turned it over 19 times with the Pioneers getting seven steals.
Corey Wickware had six assists for WVC with Chatt dishing it off five times.
Five Warriors scored in double figures with Maners, Chatt and Duncan each hitting 13. Desmond Holloway added 12 and Gerardo Suero 10.
Warner had 12 for Volunteer State with Guerrier adding 11 and Stripling 10.
