Wabash Valley's Brooke McCartney was safe on a steal of second base after leading off the second game of Sunday's double header against Olney Central with a bunt single. She was three for four in the game and scored three times in the 8-0 win.

The Wabash Valley College Lady Warriors improved to 21-0 overall and 8-0 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference with a sweep of two double headers at Paul Schnarre Field this weekend.

Saturday, WVC defeated Rend Lake, 1-0 and 5-4. Sunday, they swept Olney Central, 9-1 and 8-0.

Saturday's games

Kristen Broadway won the opener. She went 7.0 innings and gave up three hits and a walk with seven strike outs to improve to 11-0.

WVC scored the game's only run in the fourth. Jackie Porter singled and April Damm went in as a pinch runner. Amy Orender and Katelyn Kruse both walked. With one down, Taylor Wilson hit a line drive which the left fielder caught, but a wild throw allowed Damm, who was halfway down the line, to retreat, tag up and score.

Orender was one for one with two walks. Brooke McCartney and Porter were both one for three. Emerald Graham was one for two.

Kayla Meny started the second game and went 3.0 innings. She gave up one run, earned, on six hits and a walk with one strike out. Katrina Carter pitched 3.0 innings and gave up two runs, both earned, on a hit and a walk with three strike outs. Broadway picked up the win. She went 1.0 innings and gave up a run, earned, on two hits with a strike out.

Rend Lake tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh on a solo home run, a walk, an RBI double and an RBI single. WVC won it in the last of the inning when Porter's sacrifice fly scored LeAnn Collins.

Emily Priar was two for four with two RBIs, Wilson was one for two with two RBIs and Porter had the game-winning RBI.

Sunday's games

Broadway picked up her 13th win of the season. She went 5.0 innings and gave up one run, earned, on four hits and three walks with two strike outs. She also hit one batter.

Olney's run came in the first on a walk and two infield singles. The bases-loaded threat ended when Collins executed an unassisted double play.

WVC took a 4-1 lead in the last of the first. Graham had a three-run homer and Hannah Croucher added a RBI single. WVC made it 9-1 in the fourth on Graham's RBI single, Collins' two-run homer and Croucher's two-run double.

Graham was two for two with the home run and four RBIs. Collins was two for three with the home run and two RBIs. Croucher was two for three with three RBIs.

Meny started the second game and went the distance to improve to 6-0. She gave up five hits with a strike out.

WVC scored two runs each in the first, third, fourth and sixth innings.

Collins had an RBI double and Orender a RBI single in the first. Collins then added a two-run double in the third. Wilson scored on a wild pitch and Priar had an RBI single in the fourth. Priar and Orender had RBI singles in the sixth.

McCartney was three for three with three runs scored, Collins was two for two with two doubles and three RBIs, and Priar and Orender were both two for four with two RBIs each.
