
The Wabash Valley College Lady Warriors softball team swept three games from the Kaskaskia College Blue Angels Wednesday.
WVC is now 32-1 overall and 19-1 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
The Lady Warriors used the long ball to get the job done. They hit six home runs on the day with Emerald Graham blasting four of them.
WVC won the first game, as the visitors, 11-0. It was the second game of an April 2 double header which was rained out. In the regular games, WVC won, 3-1 and 11-3.
Kristen Broadway won the first game. She went 6.0 innings and gave up one hit with 10 strike outs. Broadway improved to 18-1.
WVC blew the game open with a seven-run third. Katelyn Kruse had an RBI single, Graham a three-run homer, and Jackie Porter an RBI double. Two errors also allowed WVC runs to score.
Graham's second homer of the game was a grand slam in the fourth.
Graham was three for four with seven RBIs. Emily Priar was three for four, Porter was two for four with and RBI and Kruse was one for three with an RBI.
Kayla Meny got the second-game win and is now 11-0. She went 7.0 innings and gave up one run, earned, on two hits and a walk with five strike outs.
WVC scored two in the first. Mary Tindle homered with one down and Priar later added an RBI double. Priar also had an RBI single in the third.
Kaskaskia scored its run in the sixth on a walk, a sacrifice bunt, another single and an error.
Priar was two for three with two RBIs, Tindle was one for three with the home run and an RBI. Graham was one for two with two stolen bases and two runs scored.
Katrina Carter started the third game and wend 3.2 innings. She gave up three runs, two earned, on nine hits with a strike out. Broadway got the win and is now 19-1. She went 2.1 innings and gave up one hit with six strike outs.
WVC scored on in the first on Graham's two-out homer. Taylor Wilson added a two-pout, two-run single in the second.
Kaskaskia made it a 3-1 game in the top of the third on a two-out single, an error and two more singles.
WVC scored three in its third. Graham had a two-run homer, her fourth of the day, and Priar added a solo homer, the team's sixth of the day.
Each team scored two in the fourth. Kaskaskia had two one-out singles, and a pair of two-out RBI singles. WVC had a two-run double by Graham.
WVC added a two-run double by Porter in the sixth, and an RBI grand out by Amy Orender.
Graham was three for three with two home runs, five RBIs and three stolen bases. Porter was three for four with two RBIs. Wilson was one for three with two RBI and Tindle was two for four with two runs scored.
