Griffin, a sophomore from Effingham, shot 36-69 (-3) to win the 27-hole tournament that was shortened by rain to only nine holes in the opening round Sunday.

"I hit the ball really well," Griffin said. "I could have putted better, but overall I'm happy with the way I played." He said his game is picking up at the right time as his team heads into the Region 24 Championship Tournament, May 3 and 4, in Godfrey. Griffin has been medalist of three tournaments this spring - the Shawnee CC Invitational (March 28), John A. Logan Invite (March 29-30) and today at RLC's Invitational.

"I think it's getting better and I'm definitely showing signs of improvement from earlier on in the season," he said. "Everything didn't click for some of the other players today, but I feel good going into the Region as far as our team goes. We will have some hard practices to prepare over the next couple of weeks."

JALC shot 151-293 to edge RLC's 150-300 by six strokes. Illinois Central College took third with a 155-307. Behind Griffin on the All-Tournament Team were Logan's Marcello Rozo (36-70) and Tyler Ekenberg (35-76), Anthony Dempsey of Shawnee Community College (36-76) in fourth and Curt Mitchell of Shawnee in fifth with a 37-75.

RLC's Ryan Keller (Nashville) and Elijah Sentel (Benton) landed in the top 10 with a 37-76 and 36-79 respectively. Jared Harp (Benton) shot 43-76 and Tanner Spicuzza (Dahlgren) shot 41-79 for the Warriors. Fellow RLC linkster Ross Rubenacker (Mt. Vernon) shot 40-80 playing as an individual.
