MARION, Ill. - Rend Lake College lost its first
game 15-1 in the Region XXIV baseball tournament tonight against Wabash
Valley College. RLC will play the loser of tonight's game featuring
Olney Central College and Lincoln Trail College at 1 p.m. tomorrow in
the double-elimination tournament at Rent One Park in Marion.
The RLC Warriors' Patrick Flanagan picked up the loss as Wabash scored one in the first, one in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth, six in the fifth and three in the sixth on 17 hits. RLC's only answer was a solo home run by freshman Derek Trovillion (Vienna) in the second inning. The Lake committed three errors in the field and produced only four hits via Trovillion, Luke Shuemaker (Paducah, Ky.) Hayden Hicks (Pinckneyville) and Brandon Heard (O'Fallon).
In other first-round games, John A. Logan beat Southwestern Illinois and Kaskaskia beat Lake Land.
